Living with Rheumatoid Arthritis

By Rheumamill

Rheuma Me

Hello there!

This post is about… me so you can know a little about the person behind the screen. I am 39 years old, a single mother of 3 and successfully living with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

I work full time as a special needs teacher. One of my boys is on the autism spectrum and that inspired me to enter the field. It’s hard to continue to work with RA but I’ve made it work. I offer my tips on how to continue to work with RA here.

One of my top passions is food! I love to eat! My favourite is Lao food.

Travelling is also something I enjoy doing and my best travel experience was in Egypt. I went on a hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings and that remains the most magical experience of my life. To see the Pyramids of Giza was a childhood dream come true. Truly spectacular.

To keep fit I do kickboxing and pole dancing. Once I conquer Rheumatoid Arthritis, I’d like to also get back into Jiu Jitsu. You can read more about my diet and exercise program here.

One of my favourite past times is going to the movies. I am a huge movie buff, particularly action movies. You may have noticed that on my welcome page!

I also own and ride a Kawasaki Ninja but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to ride much since my diagnosis as it’s a bit uncomfortably on my joints.

Reading is also one of my joys. I love to read!! I do lots of reading. Favourite author? Ken Follett. He is a master. I also subscribe to National Geographic and recommend that you check out the National Geographic Museum if you’re ever in D.C.

All in all, I’m pretty average right? That’s the point I’m trying to make I guess… that Rheumatoid Arthritis can happen to anybody.

Now you introduce yourself! Leave a comment or chat to me in our Facebook community. I’d love to hear about your living with rheumatoid arthritis story.
